Be prepared to give an effective interview

I've been a professional speaker and author for over 30 years and have been interviewed more times than I can remember but I do so wish I had this book when I first started. From simple tips to more complex techniques, the author presents her information in a simple, concise manner in a very well organized and formatted book.
She does a thorough job of preparing the reader to prepare for the interview. In fact, she insists on preparation. Then she explains how to prepare for it, how to construct your message, how to handle yourself during an interview, how you can be better in control in a crisis interview, how to gain from being in print, how to look fabulous on air, radio secrets, and more.
There are dozens of ideas here that will make one a better subject to interview and an excellent point is that good interviewing skills and techniques can be learned. Just follow her instructions and practice. Buy the book. Get better.

I could have saved a small fortune...

This is a great book. Chock full of relevant and precise information about how to become a media go to person, Yes really. No nonsense, step-by-step how to do interviews for print, TV, radio, online, and interactive webinars where you will be interviewed; in depth techniques on each one of these.
There are great questions to ask yourself BEFORE you are interviewed.
Author gives so much good information to get you prepared; preparation basics such as: your objective, strategy, tactics and audience--everything you say should support these basics.
There are very good examples of the right and wrong ways to talk about an issue,even how to handle a crisis interview, and more.
I paid a LOT of money to take a weekend seminar on these very subjects....REALLY wish I had seen this book first, it has all the info and none of the hype and cost!!
A tidbit of good advice from this book,"Never Forget...There is No Such Thing as Off the Record!" Recommended.

This is Great Stuff

I wish I had had this book 30 years ago for my moment(s) of fame (local). Picture this ... Sicily 1922 ... wait no, that is wrong. Actually it was rural Florida circa 1970. The first Teachers Union had come to town and 5th grade teacher me was the spokesperson for the group. I hung out with local reporters because I knew them from the bar scene and I think they all liked me and the cause, but when I was on the record, the questions got all different. I learned some of what is taught in the book through the school of hard knocks, but it would have been much easier to have the book. And what you will like a lot is that this is not some generalized fluff ... it gets into the minute details you would never even think of ... like the color tie to wear. Great job on this book.
